Donegal County Council proposes to acquire lands for the proposed Letterkenny Northern Network Project in the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District, the site location is as per Appendix A. The Letterkenny Northern Network Project aims to develop the transport network to the North of Letterkenny Town. This strategic piece of infrastructure aims to provide a new enhanced connectivity link between Glencar and the Knocknamona Roundabout, reduce traffic congestion, support compact growth, and encourage modal shift. The scheme aims to provide a new road realignment of the existing L1152-1 Windyhall Road, include provision for segregated pedestrian and cyclist active travel facilities throughout the scheme, with reallocation of road space to accommodate this on existing sections of road.
