Electricity Supply
KiwiRail Group
KiwiRail’s current Fixed Price Variable Volume (FPVV) electricity supply contract is due to expire on 31 October 2027. This was a collaborative procurement led by KiwiRail that included Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) and Auckland Transport (AT) electrical traction load to leverage greater economies of scale across the three rail entities. The parties wish to continue to collaborate on electricity supply, led by KiwiRail. The parties’ combined electrical load is about 98.2 GWh pa. KiwiRail will release the commercial in confidence ICP data (at KiwiRail’s sole discretion) to bona fide NZ electricity suppliers/retailers in 144 format and 48 pricing for all current locations. These locations are subject to change as business requirements change. If you are a bona fide NZ electricity supplier/retailer and intend to respond, please email KiwiRail's Tender Manager directly to request this information.
