National Supervision Training of Prospective Supervisors of the Psychology Assistant Workforce

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites proposals from suitably qualified providers or coordinated provider partnerships to design, develop, host, deliver and maintain a national Psychology Assistant Supervisor Training and Support Programme. The programme will prepare registered psychologists who have completed foundational supervision training to supervise Psychology Assistants safely and consistently. Initial supervisor access is required in May and June 2027, ahead of Psychology Assistants entering the workforce from July 2027. The required services include: • A short, online, on-demand Psychology Assistant-specific training module, with learner assessment and certification. • Learning platform setup and hosting, learner access and support, completion tracking, reporting and ongoing content maintenance. • A supervisor register recording training completion. • A National Psychology Assistant Supervisor Support Network, including online hui, peer connection, shared learning and feedback to inform programme improvements. The programme must address role boundaries, safe delegation, risk management, clinical governance and professional accountability. It must embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, Māori expertise, culturally safe supervision and lived experience perspectives, and support equitable national access across Health New Zealand, NGO, primary care, rural, Kaupapa Māori and specialist settings. We welcome proposals combining psychology supervision expertise, Māori and cultural capability, adult learning design, digital learning and network facilitation. Respondents must meet the experience pre-condition specified in the RFP.
