The Swan Brook Wetlands project comprises a range of Natural Flood Management measures to be installed at three National Trust owned and tenanted farm project sites. The overall aim is to increase water retention in the headwaters of the Swan Brook and reduce flood risk downstream. NFM measures proposed are specific to each location and include low earth bunds, in-field scrapes, roughening features, leaky dams and areas of floodplain reconnection. It also includes the construction of access and associated drainage infrastructure. Multiple strategic benefits are expected. Contractors will be chosen based on capacity, capability, relevant experience of delivering NFM interventions, proposed solution and cost.
