ROI for Main Contractor for Drainage Remediation at Whangarei Girls High School
Board of Trustees - Approve by BoT - ie. School Principal
The School’s wastewater infrastructure is at the end of its serviceable life and is experiencing ongoing failures. Urgent repairs were completed under the previous 5YA; however, full replacement and re-lining of sections of the wastewater network are now required to mitigate further system failures and reduce the risk of flooding within parts of the School’s pipework. The existing wastewater network currently converges to a single main discharge area before exiting the site. The proposed works include separating the line to bypass this area and improve system resilience. The condition of the existing stormwater infrastructure is currently unknown, and a site-wide CCTV investigation is required to determine whether any stormwater remedial works are necessary.
RIV_2600432 Berm transition asset maintenance
Field Services
Between 2021 and 2026, CRC installed more than 250,000 native plants into strategic riverine sites across the region. These plantings have established quickly with many in an excellent position to continue growing well into the 2026 season. This contract seeks to employ a supplier to continue spray maintenance and upkeep of our planted assets. If works can be delivered and reported as specified then following successful contract review, the work will be extended for an additional year. This contract will be awarded in three schedules: Southern, Central and Northern sites. A supplier may respond to all schedules or select schedules. The contract may be awarded to different suppliers for the northern, central or southern schedules. Our assets are a series of extensive native plant installations placed beneath and near the canopy of flood protection trees and in scour bays on the berm spaces managed by CRC. They are located amongst many other assets including flood protection vegetation, stop banks, groynes, access tracks, fences and gates. All of this will need to be navigated in the delivery of this work. Our plantings are intentionally structured to get both the best growth out of the planted units as well as facilitating recruitment of wild native plants into the asset. It is intended that in several years our assets will blend into the surrounding areas with wild seedlings moving both into and out of them. Furthermore, they will provide the first examples of structured native flood protection in functional arrangements in New Zealand. Monitoring and observation will continue to assess their performance in years to come.

Waiora Waikato Hospital Helipad Remediation
Regional Hospital Infrastructure Programme
The Waikato Hospital helipad, which supports approximately 1,700 landings annually and is critical to Emergency Department, ICU, and NICU operations, has been identified as requiring remediation due to asset deterioration. Inspections have highlighted widespread asphalt cracking (up to 10 mm), particularly in the southwestern corner, along with localized structural damage to the timber retaining wall caused by scour and ground movement. Additional issues include subsidence of fill material, surface deformation, pre-existing erosion on surrounding slopes, and potential uncertainty around the extent of polystyrene fill beneath the helipad structure. Health New Zealand is looking for a lead (main) contractor who will take overall responsibility for the project, including the management, coordination, and performance of all subcontracted trades. We are seeking a contractor who has demonstrated capability and experience operating within a live helipad and 24/7 hospital environment. Given the high-risk environment and exposure to third-party impacts, the contractor is required to maintain public liability insurance of no less than $50 million per occurrence.
