Bus Contract Renewal for Units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10
Waikato Regional Council
Waikato Regional Council is seeking serious and credible public transport operators to deliver the new bus contracts. This RFP covers Unit 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10. The contracts are to run for a period of 9 years with an option to extend by 2 years. Contracts for Units 1 & 2, start on1 July 2028 and Contracts for Units for Units 3, 4, 5 and 10 start on 1 November 2027. We are looking to achieve our goal of full decarbonisation of the bus fleet by 2035. We are adopting a market‑led approach to the timing and staging of ZEB transition. No pre‑determined split of diesel versus electric fleet is being imposed at the start of contracts, providing flexibility for you to optimise fleet investment but the expectation is that we achieve a fully ZEB fleet by 2035. There is a briefing for interested respondents via MS Teams on Wednesday 15 April 2026 and 1pm. To register for our respondent briefing session, contact our Point of Contact via GETS with the name and contact details of each attendee and a Teams link will be sent to you. Please note: Attachment 7 will be issued during the response period.
Flexibility Enabled Heavy Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Demonstration
Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority
EECA seeks to support demonstration projects to test how heavy vehicle charging infrastructure can be provided reliably and be operated cost effectively through integrated demand flexibility. Activity will be focused through charge point operators and freight companies who will be co-funded by EECA to install heavy vehicle charging infrastructure which will include demand flexibility technologies. Applications can be made for on-road vehicle charging hubs at shared urban facilities, either in an urban transport hub or at a qualifying depot with a clear sharing plan, or for dedicated journey charging. They must incorporate technologies such as smart charging, battery energy storage, and demand flexibility to minimise grid impacts. Applicants can apply for up to $5 million of total EECA co-funding of up to 50% of eligible costs for a minimum 1 MW charging hub. The remainder of the total Project costs will be co-funded by the Project Owner. Co-funding is for on-road vehicle hubs. You can register for the Supplier briefing on the link below, and the recording will be made available afterwards. The briefing will be held on Thursday 9 April 2026 at 11am https://eeca.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_cZQFid2fTCqtofb2Fx8mKw
