Quantifying Risk and Treatment Needs for Corbicula Vectors
Biosecurity New Zealand
The invasive freshwater clam or Corbicula (Corbicula fluminea) was first detected in the Waikato River in 2023. This clam is considered one of the most significant freshwater biosecurity threats in New Zealand. Recreational and commercial equipment can act as vectors, facilitating the spread of Corbicula to uninvaded areas. A key challenge for Corbicula management is the lack of quantitative, New Zealand-specific evidence on the relative risks posed by many different vectors. Building on existing international and domestic research, this project will quantify and compare the transport potential associated with representative vectors operating in New Zealand. The findings will inform the development of a national vector-risk framework and support development of standard operating protocols (SOPs) and operational guidance for the high-risk vectors, enabling more targeted and effective Corbicula management and control in New Zealand.
Main Roofing Contractor - Gym Roof Works - Albany Senior High School
Board of Trustees - Approve by BoT - ie. School Principal
The School is procuring replacement of the existing gymnasium roof and associated minor structural, weatherproofing and potential (minor) roof-space ventilation work. The 10-year Property Plan prepared in June 2024 described roof repair, but subsequent review identified that a full long-run metal roof replacement is the project scope. One corroded metal purlin line is known to require like-for-like replacement. History: the existing roof is approximately 18 years old. Long-run metal sheets and the identified purlin corrosion make isolated repair unsuitable as the base scope. Outcome sought: a durable, weathertight gymnasium roof with suitable underlay, flashings, closures and interfaces; repair of the identified deteriorated support/fixing components; protection of the School and gym; and inspection, warranties and complete handover records. The works must comply with all relevant specifications contained in the MoE “Weathertightness Design Requirements for School Buildings (v3.2)” section 10. Early engagement with Auckland Council indicates that these works are exempt from Consent under schedule 1 of the Building Act, 2004. Written confirmation of this will be obtained before contract execution. The intended physical works start (mobilisation) is 15 December 2026. Target Practical Completion is 20 January 2027, with programme margin to 27 January 2027 for weather, latent conditions and minor defect remediation.
Reducing the Incidence and Severity of Injuries in the Construction Sector
Accident Compensation Corporation
ACC’s Injury Prevention Strategy (2024-2033) focuses on reducing the incidence, severity, and long-term cost of injuries in New Zealand by targeting investment toward areas where the greatest measurable impact can be achieved. Through this procurement, ACC seeks innovative, scalable, and evidence-based approaches that can reduce injury incidence and severity within the construction industry, improve worker health and safety outcomes, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the ACC Scheme. Providers will be expected to demonstrate how their proposed interventions will achieve measurable outcomes, effectively reach priority populations, and generate lasting behavioural and system-level change on one or more of the following injury types: 1. Eye injuries (specifically increasing the use of Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]); 2. Work-related musculoskeletal injuries (specifically reducing worker exposure to hazardous working environments and improving the way work is planned, designed, resourced, supervised, and carried out); and 3. Slips, trips and falls (specifically reducing worker exposure to hazardous working environments and improving the way work is planned, designed, resourced, supervised, and carried out).
Consultancy Services - RFI
New Zealand Government Procurement and Property
Currently NZGP runs the All-of-Government (AoG) Contract for Consultancy Services, which has an evergreen term (that is, it has no set expiry date). NZGP would like the Contract to be more accessible and effective for public sector agencies and consultancy providers and is considering how best to achieve those objectives. We are looking for responses from current AoG providers and other providers interested in supplying to Government Agencies. This RFI is a key input into the formation of the next generation AoG Consultancy Services solution and how it will function. NZGP currently anticipates releasing a tender for the next generation AoG Consultancy Services solution to the market in the first half of 2027.
