Dental Patient Management Software
University of Otago
The University is seeking information about commercially available solutions, or solution ecosystems, that could replace or modernise its current dental patient-management environment and support the operation of the Faculty of Dentistry and Dental Hospital. We want to understand what is available in the market, the maturity and boundaries of relevant capabilities, deployment and architecture options, interoperability, data migration and archival approaches, implementation and support models, and indicative whole-of-life costs. This is not a conventional single-practice dental PMS requirement. The University operates a multi-site dental teaching-hospital environment in which patient care, student clinical experience, supervision and assessment, complex resource scheduling, mixed-payer billing, imaging/specialist systems, reporting and research all intersect. We are therefore interested in both integrated platforms and realistic multi-product approaches where these are better suited to the required capabilities. The University is also undertaking wider improvement (continuous improvement vs. stepwise) of the Dental Hospital's services and operating model. We are interested in understanding how contemporary digital capability could enable improved patient experience, clinical quality and safety, teaching and supervision, operational efficiency and resource utilisation, financial sustainability, governance and data-informed decision-making. We do not assume that current processes or the functionality of the existing system represents the future-state model.
