DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT The Department of Physics and the Department of Chemistry research focuses on solid-state physics and chemistry under extreme conditions. The lab uses light as the probe to detect and study phase transitions at high-pressure, low-temperature and under magnetic field. The Magneto-Optical Cryostat System will provide a core experimental capability for the lab, enabling measurements from below 1.7 K to at least room temperature in a low-vibration, cryogen-free environment. A central requirement is the ability to apply high magnetic fields to the sample in more than one orientation. The System is also required to provide suitable optical access for magneto-optical measurements and a practical means of integrating user-supplied electrical wiring for sample excitation, control, and measurement. Operation without liquid helium is essential for ensuring reliable long-term use while reducing exposure to increasing helium costs and supply limitations. The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated. ADDRESS AND FINAL DATE FOR SUBMISSIONS Submissions must be submitted electronically at https://utoronto.bonfirehub.ca/ on or before Monday, November 23, 2026 (2:00 PM local time).
