Prequalification Package 1090-TP08S.3–Stained Glass Fabrication and Installation

The Scope of Services of this prequalification package is for the Stained Glass Fabrication and Installation. As part of the Centre Block Rehabilitation Project, we require a Subcontractor(s) who possesses the skills, experience, and knowledge of Stained Glass Fabrication and Installation. Proponents, please note all reinstatement work must be performed by union workers as noted further in this Request for Qualifications. Proponents shall demonstrate previous experience in the fabrication and installation of stained glass within designated heritage buildings and in working in accordance with Heritage Management Protocols and Asset Tracking and Management Systems. Proponents shall clearly describe how this experience will contribute to the successful delivery of the Project, inclusive of but not limited to: Design Collaboration o Full-scale pattern development based on cartoon sets (provided by others) o Shop drawing development Stained Glass Fabrication: Production of large-format lancet windows o Glass Fabrication and installation of heritage-stained glass, including work involving traditional mouth-blown and antique glass, hand-painted glass, and kiln-fired vitreous enamel system. Ability to match and recreate historic glass appearances, including colour, texture and translucency Glass cutting and assembly o Lead Came Fabrication and installation of stained-glass assemblies incorporating custom lead came systems, including steel-heart cames, restoration profile matching, and appropriate structural reinforcement methods. o Finishes Traditional stained-glass finishing and weatherproofing techniques, including cementing and puttying of leaded panels, linseed oil putty systems, patination processes, and other heritage-compatible finishing methods. o Installation Installation of heritage stained-glass assemblies within a variety of historic building conditions, including installation into stone reglets and steel framing systems.
