Speed limit reductions were implemented within the Queenstown Lakes District under the Speed Limit Bylaw 2019, with urban speed limits reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h from 2019. The study aims to evaluate the outcomes of these changes. The study will focus across the district within the urban area subject to the 40 km/h speed limit, over a 6 year period. The purpose of this study is to quantify the safety and operational impacts of the speed limit changes and assess whether the changes have contributed to improved road safety outcomes. Analysis periods: • Pre-change: 2017–2019 • Post-change: 2023–2025
