Nelson Hospital Electrical Upgrade
Health New Zealand (Te Whatu Ora)
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora intends to procure a main electrical contractor to deliver a coordinated programme of high voltage (HV), medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) electrical infrastructure upgrades at Nelson Hospital. The works are expected to include the replacement and upgrade of ageing switchboards and transformers, installation of a new electrical distribution hub, reconfiguration of building supplies, associated cabling and protection works, active harmonic filtering, generator backup improvements, testing, commissioning and carefully managed load transfers. The programme brings together works relating to Substations 1, 2 and 7 and the George Manson facility. It is intended to improve the resilience, reliability, maintainability, capacity and power quality of the hospital’s electrical network, reduce the risk of disruption to critical clinical services and provide capacity for future hospital growth. The works will be delivered within a live hospital campus and will need to be staged and coordinated with clinical operations and other concurrent projects.
