Under the Project, the Government of the Republic of Angola, through the Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA) and the Public Water Company of Luanda (EPAL, E.P.), is implementing the Luanda Water Supply Project – System 4 (Bita), which aims to strengthen the water supply system and improve access to safe and reliable drinking water in the Luanda Metropolitan Area. The Project includes the construction of major water supply infrastructure to improve access to safe drinking water in the Luanda Metropolitan Area. Works under Areas 1 and 3 of Lot B137 require land acquisition and have affected households whose livelihoods depend mainly on agriculture and related activities. Consequently, a Livelihood Restoration Program (LRP) will be implemented to assist Project Affected Persons (PAPs) in restoring their income and living standards.
