SPECIFIC PROCUREMENT NOTICE - Single EPC Employer: Mpatamanga Hydro Power Limited (MHPL) Project: Mpatamanga Hydropower Storage Project Contract: The Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Testing and Commissioning Contract of the Mpatamanga Hydropower Storage Project (“MHSP-PCSA-RFP”) Country: Malawi Loan No: IDA Grant E4480-MW RFB No: MW-MHPL-571342-CW-RFP Issued on: September 15, 2026 The Mpatamanga Hydropower Storage Project is located on the Shire River, the largest river in Malawi and a tributary to the Zambezi River, and situated in the southern region of Malawi, within the Blantyre and the Neno Districts. In brief, the development comprises two cascading hydropower generating stations that are near each other (6 km apart), which will have a combined installed capacity of 365.6 MW (i.e., 306 MW and 59.6 MW plants), completed with separate substations and two transmission lines. The sources of funds comprises (i) the International Development Association (IDA) from the World Bank Group, (ii) other key financing organisations including IFC and (iii) the Developers. This Initial Selection will be open to all eligible firms and individuals as defined in Employer's Initial Selection Document.
