The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Service PDS) Health Infrastructure and Systems Management (HISM), Clinical Imaging Product Line has a requirement for enhancement of the existing Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Router Application software that interacts with the VA's Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) Imaging system. DICOM router application software will provide high quality, effective, and efficient Information Technology (IT) services to those responsible for providing care to Veterans at the point-of-care, as well as throughout all the points of the Veterans’ health care in an effective and timely manner. DICOM Compass routers are utilized at the operational-level at VA medical centers as well as by the Standards and COTS Integration Platform (SCIP) team, Community Image Exchange Services team, and VA IT Technical Staff to route medical images and studies from Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) Imaging (VI) to other medical diagnostic equipment for analysis and additional processing to improve processing efficiently and fault tolerance by decreasing the overall duty time of each DICOM Compass Router. These routers have key functions that are designed for managing and optimizing the flow of DICOM data within medical imaging environments for data routing, data normalization for DICOM headers ensuring compatibility, optimizing resource utilization through load balancing capabilities distributing across servers/storage solutions to prevent overload, backup/redundancy features ensuring continuous data availability and prevent data loss by duplicating imaging data, workflow management supporting creation of customizable workflows to handle complex scenarios, security/compliance with secure communication protocols protecting patient sensitive data during transmission with audit trail functionality, archival/
